July. Halfway through the year. Or are we just getting started?
By the time you finish reading this, millions of phones will have updated their software, three (if not more) new AI tools will probably have launched, and several job descriptions somewhere in the world will have evolved... AGAIN!
Things are moving fast. Almost too fast and amidst all this, we somehow feel ‘The Matrix’ (the movie) wasn’t fiction at all.
While everyone seems to be talking about the future, almost to the point of obsession, very few are talking about the humans who'll have to live and work in it.
So, instead of adding one more opinion to the internet about ‘What technology upgrade your organisation must have by 2030’, we’ve decided to step back and discuss human skills.
As we were meeting with our partners, one thing almost everyone questioned was:
If human skills are so important, why are firms still investing billions of dollars in AI or technology upgrades over human skills? It’s a fair question; but it doesn’t reflect the state of play. The reality is that strong human skills amplify the outputs made possible through technology - and as such we need to invest in human skills development alongside new technology.
Without your teams being able to think critically, creatively and work as part of a team, this technology won’t deliver. It has always been about investing in both, simultaneously.
In fact, in the past month, there have been so many reports that evidence this argument. Below are some of our top finds:
One report, in particular, caught our attention: PwC's 2026 Global AI Jobs Barometer.
There is one line in this report that has stuck with us - particularly when we reflect on what the future of work will look like:
"The traditional relationship between experience and expertise is changing. AI is removing some of the routine work that once acted as an apprenticeship, while increasing demand for judgement, leadership and adaptability much earlier in careers. Organisations need to rethink how they develop talent if they want people to thrive in this new environment."
Read that again.
Judgement, leadership, adaptability. Employers want it not after ten years of experience, not once you've become a manager. BUT NOW!
For years, we've assumed these were qualities people would naturally pick up somewhere along the way. Turns out, "somewhere along the way" has arrived much sooner than we expected.
So... what happens now?
Here's the encouraging part.
Skills like communication, critical thinking, self-awareness, decision-making and adaptability aren’t exclusively reserved for CEOs. They can be learnt, honed and mastered! Just like any other skill, as early as school, long before a student's first interview or their first appraisal.
This month, we found ourselves in the right room.
The Maxme India team recently attended the 7th UP Infrastructure Leadership Summit & Awards 2026, which brought policymakers, industry leaders and innovators together under a roof to discuss the future of infrastructure and its development in the country.
We remain grateful to be a part of such conversations where we remain determined to advocate for the one investment that appreciates with every technological leap- the investment in people.
And now for a piece of news we're particularly proud of…
Maxme India’s Country Head of Sales & Marketing, Dr. Nilanjan Mukherji, has been appointed Honorary Chair, Higher Education & Human Skill Development Committee, UP State Council, Punjab Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Indian Investors Federation.
Safe to say, we're not the only ones who think he's pretty great. We have a feeling this is going to open even more doors for meaningful conversations around education, employability and human skills.
Half the year is over - opportunities have just begun.
Just to say it once again, we’re not dismissing the advantages of AI. It has always been about acknowledging and showcasing the value of human skills. Because if we see an opportunity, we'll fight for it. That's what we do. We will continue celebrating technology and innovation, but we will also keep championing something as important as ‘Value of Human Skills in Industry 4.0”
So, where do we go from here?
If you're someone who understands the value of human skills or want to know more about how we are making professionals, school kids, teachers, and entrepreneurs, keep up and thrive in this technological upheaval we'd love to be part of your journey. Through our programs for schools, universities, teachers and professionals, we will help build skills that technology can never replace.
