Meet Maxme: Everything you need to know about us

Maxme is an Australian-owned company committed to maximising the potential of individuals around the world through the power of human skills.

Sounds good, right? But what does it mean? Why are we here? And where did it all begin?

Make yourself comfortable as we share our story.

What is Maxme all about?

In a nutshell, we're on a mission to democratise human skill development by helping as many people as possible to understand their strengths, maximise their unique potential, and thrive.

We do this through accessible, highly immersive learning products, programs and experiences that empower organisations and individuals to succeed through the power of human skills. These skills include the likes of self awareness, communication, creativity, teamwork, and more.

That probably sounds like a lot of jargon, so let’s rewind and explain where it all began.

Our humble beginnings

The heart and soul behind Maxme is Renata Sguario (Ren). Ren is a senior executive with almost 30 years’ experience executing customer centred, business and tech transformations for leading organisations across the world like British Airways, Telstra, NAB, Accenture, Latitude Financial and RAE Group.

While she was working hard in the corporate world, behind the scenes Ren was realising that her real raison d'etre was helping people be the best version of themselves.

So, in 2019, she bit the bullet and followed her passion. Having two teenage girls at the time, Ren was acutely aware of the challenges facing young people as they prepared for work, such as the confidence and capability to apply for jobs and navigate interviews, not to mention how to self-manage their workloads, wellbeing, and the complexities of rapidly changing technology and workplaces.

Assembling a pro team of coaches, behavioural scientists, leaders and consultants, she packaged their collective wisdom around human skills into high value products and programs that can be accessed anytime, anywhere.

And with that, Maxme was born – a company committed to maximising the potential of individuals around the world through the power of human skills.

The name says it all: “Maximise me”.

What are human skills and why do they matter?

‘Human skills’ might sound like another corporate buzzword, so let’s explain what we mean. Sometimes called ‘soft skills’, human skills are the non-technical skills that aren’t typically taught as part of a curriculum, but enable us to function at our best. Think skills like self awareness, communication, interpersonal skills, creative thinking, resilience, emotional intelligence, and more.

These skills are incredibly important to our growth as humans, both in the workplace and in life. In fact, 43 of the 56 foundational skills required for the future of work are human skills (McKinsey). That’s three quarters of the skills needed. And according to Deloitte Access Economics, 9 out of 10 leaders said that when a new hire doesn’t work out, it’s because they lack critical soft skills.

Take emotional intelligence (EQ). This human skill is responsible for 58% of your job performance. As many as 9 out of 10 top performers have high emotional intelligence, and earn exponentially more than their counterparts with a lower EQ.

That’s a strong argument for human skills, right?

What do we do?

Okay, let’s get down to business. At present, our portfolio of products and programs includes:

Our app, Hodie, is the first of its kind. It’s packed with gamified content, practical exercises and tools to help career starters, movers and advancers build critical human skills to supercharge their potential and productivity.

Our Maxme Human Skills Programs for organisations target specific human skill development needs and are supported by our Hodie app. These fully-curated programs are designed for organisations and teams at any level of human skill proficiency, and range from one-week kick-starters to multi-month deep development.

Excitement, interactivity and levity are hallmarks of all Maxme learning experiences. In today’s hybrid environment, we know engagement, connection and purpose are more critical than ever when it comes to thriving people and workplaces.

For example, our Maxme Human Skills Programs offer a curated mix of in-person and virtual workshops, and self-guided learning across the Hodie app, along with Milestone Seminar Events and competitions. This is proven to promote active participation and collaboration while also generating excitement through gamification.

Our Human Skills Academy is Australia’s first group coaching academy dedicated to human skills development. The Academy offers a selection of Maxme’s most popular courses for individuals or small groups of colleagues from workplaces, member-based organisations, or community associations. The Academy offers all the engagement benefits of our Human Skills Programs but in a 100% virtual format.

For example, if you’re job hunting, about to immigrate, recently graduated or landed a new role, you can jump onto the Work Readiness Program. The 5-week program provides an essential skill-building roadmap for personal and professional success at work. You’ll learn skills like:

  • Self Awareness – reveal your superpowers

  • Communicating with Impact – getting your message heard

  • Using connections to open doors – networking

  • Acing job interviews
